Roaming Whiskers Featured at CatCon 2025

We’re excited to share that our founder, Liz Gilbert Schaffer, was featured in CatCon’s 2025 event coverage this weekend! As one of the largest cat-centric conventions in the world, CatCon brings together feline lovers, innovative products, and thought leaders in the pet space. The event is known for celebrating people who are doing something different—and we were honored to see both Liz and Travel Gravel included in the story.

The CatCon article spotlighted the origins of Travel Gravel, our all-in-one portable litter solution for cats on the move. Inspired by her own cat Fred and her lifelong experience as a Los Angeles native, Liz designed Travel Gravel with emergency preparedness in mind, specifically earthquakes, a constant concern in Southern California. However, Travel Gravel is a solution for all emergencies, including another California tragedy: wildfires.

As it turns out, Travel Gravel was exactly what many cat parents needed during the Malibu fire in December 2024 and the large Eaton and Pacific Palisades fires in January 2025. Customers who had picked one up “just in case” were able to evacuate quickly and confidently with their cats. Designed by a lifelong cat owner who understands the stress of natural disasters firsthand, the kit includes a disposable litter box, scoop, a resealable pouch of lightweight, natural clay clumping litter infused with baking soda for odor control, and a reusable tote. Each element was carefully chosen with emergencies and travel in mind—making Travel Gravel just as useful for road trips, flights, and weekend getaways as it is for evacuation scenarios.

Seeing Travel Gravel and Liz highlighted by CatCon is more than a moment of recognition, it’s a reminder of why we do what we do.
